5 Things to Do When Winter Weather Keeps You Inside

If you live in an area that sees snow, ice, and extremely low temperatures, you’re probably no stranger to Winter Weather Warnings. Schools close, business shut down, and the Snow Trucks are working hard clearing and salting the roads. If you’re unexpectedly stuck inside at the last minute, I hope these five ideas can help you keep your boredom away.

  1. Spa Day

    Have you been putting off some self care time to take care of chores around the house? I know it always seems like a good time to get stuff done, but if you can find time normally during the week, think of this as a day-off from that laundry list of things to get done. There will always be something on that list, but it’s nice to mentally and physically unwind -especially if you’re a busy body.

    You can try this easy face mask made from stuff in your kitchen, or just soak in a tub of Epsom Salts and splash lavender essential oil in the water. Read some chapters of your book in the bath -the possibilities are endless!

  2. Try a New Recipe

    There is this awesome website that lets you enter in the ingredients that you have at home, and it gives you meals you can make. Not only will your creative juices flow, but the results are delicious! Who knows, maybe it can be a new signature dish of yours…

  3. Begin a Bullet Journal

    If you don’t know what this is, a bullet journal is a very creative, but organized way to write lists, entries, and keep daily trackers. You are the sole creator of your journal, so it’s set up to what works best for you.


    Some people keep track of their water intake, how much time they spend on social media, write any lists of chores for the day, any daily goals, and so on and so forth. Pinterest is a great hub for journal ideas if you’re new to it, or are experience a writer’s block.

  4. Binge-Watch on Netflix

    There are plenty of awesome shows out there on Netflix, you should feel totally guilt free if you want to use your unexpected day off. Some of my personal favorites include the Gilmore Girls reboot, drama-filled Orange is the New Black, and sci-fi thrillers like Stranger Things and Black Mirror. Those are just a few examples, but there are hundreds to chose from.

  5. SLEEP IN!

    This one is always so obvious -yet always gets left off these lists. In your adult life, sleeping in is almost nonexistent. Snow days are perfect for FINALLY catching up on those eight hours you seem to miss every night.
